Vacuum brazing refers to a welding method that uses a filler metal (called brazing filler metal or solder) with a lower melting point than the base material under a vacuum environment. At a temperature lower than the base material melting point but higher than the brazing filler metal melting point, the liquid brazing filler metal is used to wet, spread and fill the gaps in the base material surface, dissolve and diffuse with the base material, thereby achieving connection between parts. The parts welded by this process have small deformation and are particularly suitable for large-scale production. They have important applications in the fields of aviation, aerospace, automobiles, electronics, etc. In addition, the characteristics of this process also determine that it is particularly suitable for welding special materials such as composite materials, ceramics, and crystals. It is an indispensable process in the forming and manufacturing of such materials.
1. Characteristics of vacuum brazing
(1) During the entire brazing process, no brazing flux is used. The brazed parts are under vacuum conditions, and oxidation, carbonization, decarburization, pollution and deterioration will not occur. The brazing seam is beautiful.
(2) During brazing, the overall heat of the parts is uniform, the thermal stress is small, the deformation can be controlled to a minimum, and zero-residue processing and precision brazing can be achieved.
(3) Multiple adjacent brazing seams can be brazed at one time, or multiple components can be brazed in the same furnace according to the capacity of the furnace to improve the brazing efficiency.
(4) There are many types of basic metals that can be brazed, especially suitable for brazing aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, etc. It is also applicable to composite materials, ceramics, graphite, glass, diamond and other materials.
(5) It has opened up product design avenues and can be used for parts with narrow grooves, extremely small transition platforms, blind holes, closed containers, and complex-shaped components without considering corrosion, cleaning, damage and other problems caused by brazing agents.
2. Main applications of vacuum brazing:
Vacuum brazing technology has become a very promising welding technology. At present, vacuum brazing technology has been promoted and popularized in the fields of aviation, aerospace, atomic energy, electrical instruments, petrochemicals, automobiles, tools, etc. In recent years, with the development of science and technology, especially the rapid development of home appliance industry , automobile industry and electronics industry, the application of brazing technology has become more and more extensive.
